My own chairs at home were old – the Ono was new. It was impersonal – that was the crux of the matter. Much in keeping with the aim of the AIT Charity Chair project as a whole, a relation-ship needed to be forged here. So I gave the chair its own identity by painting it, exposing it to the Hamburg weather for days on end and setting to work on it with a variety of tools.
